#BeInclusive #BeActive #BeCreative: Bulgaria and the countries of the Western Balkans with common ideas for the European Sports Week in 2019.
On 13 and 14 December 2018 in Sofia, the Ministry of Youth and Sport organized an expert meeting with representatives of the institutions responsible for sport from the Western Balkan countries. The focus of the event was on sharing experience with the #BeActive European Sports Week in 2018, tackling the challenges and joint campaigning of the campaign in 2019.
In the framework of interactive and multimedia workshops, experts from Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina made joint proposals and confirmed the usefulness, cooperation through working groups, development of common priorities, exchange of information and intensive communication to accelerate and deepen in 2019.
The European Commission's annual awarding ceremony, the "#BeActive Awards Gala", opened by the Minister of Youth and Sports - Mr. Krasen Kralev in Sofia, was admired by the guests during the presentation of the MYS. Then Minister Kralev awarded the winner in the category "Local hero". The Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sports, Mr. Tibor Navracić, chose the Bulgarian capital to host one of the most prestigious sporting events in Europe.
In 2018, Macedonia received funding from the European Commission for the European sport week, and Serbia will have the same opportunity in 2019. The proximity in the concepts and approaches of the five countries, made an impression and the original and creative achievements were identified as future shared practices.
The main focus was the successful launch of the #BeActive Night initiative, which will take place in September 2019 on September 28th.
During the meeting, the experts shared that new technologies and social networks contribute significantly to the rapid communication, optimization and effective promotion of the European Week of Sport. The participants united around the concept of a cross-cutting approach to attracting all stakeholders - municipalities, institutions, sports federations, clubs and organizations that together provide added value in achieving social inclusion through sport, physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.

The moderators of the meeting were Stefka Gobova, lecturer at the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski" and Mrs. Joanna Dochevska, Chairwoman of the Bulgarian sports development association, who also presented the chronology of the European Week of Sport. The MYS was presented by Ms. Victoria Slavkova, Director of the European Programs, Projects and International Cooperation Directorate and an expert who actively participated in the team for the realization of the fourth edition of the European Sports Week in Bulgaria.
During the event the #GoodGovernanceSport project was presented. It is coordinated by the Bulgarian sports development association. #GoodGovernanceSport - 590305-EPP-1-2017-1-BG-SPO-SCP / is co-funded by Erasmus + Sport of the European Commission / Strategic Partnerships in Sport / partnership of 7 countries, which will last for 30 months, starting on 01/01/2018. The #GoodGovernanceSport project aims to find a way to analyze, collect and promote good practices for appropriate visibility of decisions made and made, responsible bodies and transparency of sports organizations in Europe and partner countries. Representatives of the Western Balkans Responsible for Sport Institutions also became acquainted with the first results of the project, which are an extensive survey of the websites of 56 sports organizations at national and European level, aiming to find out to what extent sport structures ensure transparency of decisions made and financial operations they perform. The visitors from the Western Balkans visited the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski", where they were acquainted with the academic side of the sport in Bulgaria and watched boxing, wrestling, fencing, sumo, rhythmic gymnastics and track and field trainings.
The meeting was the closing event of the project "Be Active - Choose Your Sport and Have Fun", implemented by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, co-funded by Erasmus +.
